Shift Pattern: 10/hr Days – Earliest start time 5:15 am to latest 4:30 pm.

Weekend Rotation: Every 3rd Saturday; plus holiday rotation.

Provides direct or indirect care to a varying number of patients and performs various functions associated with hemodialysis treatments independently and under the direction of a registered nurse.

• Prepares patients for procedures by taking vital statistics and reviewing dialysis orders and lab work.
• Sets up and monitors equipment for procedures both during and after.
• Notes and documents patient’s condition during procedure via observation, interview and monitoring of vital statistics; reports abnormal assessment findings.
• Contributes to the assessment of patients by collecting data for analysis by an RN.
• Obtains, processes and transports blood samples and culture specimens as ordered.
• Demonstrates proficiency in performing dialysis treatments and in cannulation of vascular access.
• Monitors and troubleshoots dialysis machine and RO/water system.
• Participates in quality improvement activities to include collection of data and machine maintenance.
• Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

High School diploma or GED, or 10 years of work experience.

No experience required.

Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (BLS HCP) – American Heart Association (AHA).
