Location:
Fon du Lac, WI – 100% onsite at a hospital.
Schedule:
Monday‑Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM (full‑time).
Pay range: $18.00/hr – $24.00/hr final compensation will be based on skills and experience.
Job SummaryThe purpose of this position is to connect uninsured hospital patients to programs that will cover their medical expenses. As a Patient Advocate you will evaluate eligibility for federal, state, and county assistance via bedside visits and in‑person interactions, guiding patients through the application process with empathy and efficiency, ensuring a 98% screening rate.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Screen uninsured hospital patients at bedside to assess eligibility for assistance programs.
- Complete and track applications until approval.
- Document all cases accurately in MPower and hospital systems.
- Provide exceptional customer service at all times.
- Participate in training to apply new content to patient interactions.
- Maintain assigned work queue of patient accounts.
- Collaborate with hospital staff, case managers, social workers, and financial counselors.
- Answer and make outbound calls, track paperwork for Medicaid enrollment and renewal via MPower.
- Maintain timely contact with applicants and government agencies by phone or structured daily queue.
- Assist applicants with additional reports, appointments, transportation, and home visits as needed.
- Inform clients of approvals and denials in a timely manner.
- Attend required training to stay updated on regulations.
- Show regular and timely attendance.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or GED preferred.
- Prior hospital experience preferred.
- Adaptability to changing processes, systems, and programs.
- Professional experience with state and federal assistance programs.
- Critical thinking skills.
- Ability to navigate hospital environment during shift.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and Outlook.
- Fluent in Spanish and English, with effective oral and written communication.
- Ability to multitask to meet performance metrics.
