Location:

Fon du Lac, WI – 100% onsite at a hospital.

Schedule:

Monday‑Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM (full‑time).

Salary

Pay range: $18.00/hr – $24.00/hr final compensation will be based on skills and experience.

Job Summary

The purpose of this position is to connect uninsured hospital patients to programs that will cover their medical expenses. As a Patient Advocate you will evaluate eligibility for federal, state, and county assistance via bedside visits and in‑person interactions, guiding patients through the application process with empathy and efficiency, ensuring a 98% screening rate.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Screen uninsured hospital patients at bedside to assess eligibility for assistance programs.
  • Complete and track applications until approval.
  • Document all cases accurately in MPower and hospital systems.
  • Provide exceptional customer service at all times.
  • Participate in training to apply new content to patient interactions.
  • Maintain assigned work queue of patient accounts.
  • Collaborate with hospital staff, case managers, social workers, and financial counselors.
  • Answer and make outbound calls, track paperwork for Medicaid enrollment and renewal via MPower.
  • Maintain timely contact with applicants and government agencies by phone or structured daily queue.
  • Assist applicants with additional reports, appointments, transportation, and home visits as needed.
  • Inform clients of approvals and denials in a timely manner.
  • Attend required training to stay updated on regulations.
  • Show regular and timely attendance.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • Prior hospital experience preferred.
  • Adaptability to changing processes, systems, and programs.
  • Professional experience with state and federal assistance programs.
  • Critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to navigate hospital environment during shift.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and Outlook.
  • Fluent in Spanish and English, with effective oral and written communication.
  • Ability to multitask to meet performance metrics.
  • Dress according to client dress code.
