Cook PM Shift

The primary purpose of this position is to prepare food in accordance with current applicable federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations, following our established policies and procedures, and as directed by the Head Cook, Registered Dietitian, and/or Director of Dietary Services.

• Review menus prior to preparing food.
• Prepare meals according to planned menus, ensuring they are palatable and visually appealing.
• Prepare food for therapeutic diets as per planned menus.
• Inspect special diet trays to ensure correct diets are served to residents.
• Serve food following established portion control procedures.
• Prepare and serve bedtime snacks.
• Ensure appropriate equipment and utensils are provided with each resident’s meal tray.
• Review care plans to verify current food information aligns with served foods.
• Prepare and serve substitute foods for residents who refuse served foods.
• Follow infection control policies and procedures during daily tasks.
• Assist or direct daily or scheduled cleaning duties as per policies.
• Maintain cleanliness and safety of the department, ensuring equipment and supplies are properly maintained.
• Assist in keeping food storage areas clean and organized at all times.

Prior experience cooking in a skilled nursing facility is preferred. Food Sanitation Certification is a plus.
