Warehouse, Receiver – Sysco
The Warehouse, Receiver role is responsible for all general warehouse functions, including loading, receiving, put‑away, stocking, warehouse selection of product, and order packing when qualified and as needed. All functions, except loading, require specific equipment or process certification.
Days and HoursDay shift:
Monday‑Thursday 6:00 am – 4:30 pm. The position is full‑time and may involve shift work or weekends to meet customer order requirements.
- Appropriately handle product to minimize damage during loading, unloading, and receiving processes.
- Inspect trailer cleanliness prior to loading.
- Ensure all packages meet warehouse standards before loading (no visible damage, boxes securely closed, address labels affixed and readable, etc.).
- Maintain neatness and cleanliness of dock areas, loading and unloading zones.
- Accurately record product delivered versus Bill of Lading/Receiving Worksheets and create OS&D paperwork when necessary.
- Stage product efficiently for put‑away.
- Operate authorized MHE such as forklifts, stand‑up order selectors, and reach trucks safely, and perform daily inspections and maintenance.
- Remove shrink wrap, bands, or tape when putting a pallet into a selection location as required.
- Accurately scan product and place it in the correct slots.
- Accurately select product for outbound shipments and stage pallets with correct float numbers.
- Accurately sort, segregate, and package product for shipment via Fed Ex or LTL.
- Work effectively with the supervisor to prevent warehouse shrinkage and comply with all safety rules and company policies.
- Cross‑train and perform work in other warehouse functions as qualified.
- Use warehouse computers and RF equipment safely and professionally.
- Report unsafe issues immediately to supervisor and ensure compliance with all applicable state and federal regulations.
- Perform additional warehouse duties as assigned.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must pass a post‑offer functional capacity test.
- Certification on material handling equipment is required, or the ability to become certified.
- Strong communication skills; ability to read, comprehend, write, and speak clearly in one‑on‑one and small‑group settings.
- Good mathematical ability for basic calculations, rates, ratios, and percentages.
- Reasoning ability to apply common sense in carrying out written and oral instructions.
- Physical ability to lift up to 100 pounds, stand, walk, kneel, sit, and work near or on MHE up to 25 feet.
- Ability to maintain repeated inspections and safe handling of equipment and materials.
High school diploma or GED preferred; one year of warehouse‑related experience or training is acceptable, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Work Environment & HoursThe job is performed in a warehouse environment with variable temperatures, loud noise, and exposure to fast‑moving equipment. Full‑time hours may include days, nights, weekdays, weekends, and holidays, with some variability based on order requirements.
