Temporary Production Engineer Technician

Location: Forest Grove, Oregon
Compensation: $25–$35/hr DOE
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM
Employment Type: Full-Time contract work for 3 to 6 months
Our manufacturing facility is located on 5 acres in Forest Grove, Oregon, nestled between the Coast Range to the west and the Cascade Mountains to the east. The company has proudly engineered and manufactured electrical air switch equipment used in transmission and substation applications of the electric power grid for decades. What began as a supplier of group‑operated air break disconnects has evolved into a comprehensive product line that includes motor operators, ground switches, surge suppression resistors, and unitized phase‑over‑phase designs.

- Analyzing product and equipment specifications to determine manufacturability using existing processes and facilities
- Evaluating feasibility of new equipment designs or facility modifications considering cost, space, and time constraints
- Providing technical guidance on manufacturing methods, materials, properties, and process limitations
- Collaborating with engineering and research teams to resolve design challenges and improve product performance
- Preparing or assisting with layouts, detailed drawings, schematics, and documentation
- Coordinating and supporting the build of prototype products and systems
- Planning and assisting with experimental test programs
- Compiling and analyzing test, operational, and research data to validate performance standards
- Reviewing test results and recommending design modifications as needed
- Ensuring compliance with established standards, procedures, and applicable regulations
- Maintaining accurate documentation and continuously updating technical knowledge
- Performing additional duties as assigned
- $25–$35/hr DOE

- Associate’s degree from a two‑year college or technical school OR 6 months–1 year of related experience/training (or equivalent combination)
- Experience in design, fabrication, manufacturing, or customer/supplier interaction
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, technical specifications, and design documentation
- Strong math skills including geometry, trigonometry, fractions, ratios, and proportions
- Excellent problem‑solving and analytical skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, work under pressure, and meet deadlines
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Clear written and verbal communication skills
Required:
- Experience with CAD software and 3D drawing/modeling tools
- Regularly required to sit, use hands, and communicate verbally
- Frequently required to reach with hands and arms
- Occasionally required to stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
- Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
- Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment
- Occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts
- Generally quiet work environment
