Job SummaryThe Structural Engineer 3 is a senior-level engineering position responsible for delivering advanced structural engineering services and field support for heavy industrial and power plant projects. This role requires strong technical expertise in structural steel and concrete design, proven project coordination skills, and the ability to lead small to mid-sized, multi-disciplinary projects. The ideal candidate is highly experienced, proactive, and capable of guiding technical decisions and interfacing effectively with plant personnel, engineering teams, and vendors.
KeyResponsibilities
Provide engineering design services and technical field support for power and industrial facility projects.
Prepare and review structural steel and concrete design calculations, drawings, and reports.
Conduct site walkdowns and structural inspections; prepare detailed documentation and recommendations.
Develop cost estimates, material takeoffs, and provide staffing and schedule input for engineering tasks.
Lead or support multiple small to mid-sized single or multi-discipline projects.
Check and validate structural steel connection designs and support construction efforts as needed.
Ensure all work complies with applicable codes, industry standards, and OSHA regulations.
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.
Professional Engineer (PE) license is a plus.
7–10 years of structural engineering experience in heavy industrial and/or power plant environments.
Demonstrated experience with structural inspections and field reporting.
Experience managing project schedules, costs, and coordination efforts.
Expert knowledge of structural steel and concrete design principles.
Proficiency in structural analysis tools, including STAAD PRO.
Familiarity with structural codes and standards: AISC, ASCE, ACI, and OSHA.
Strong computer skills and familiarity with project management and engineering software.
Ability to perform and review structural steel connection designs.
Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.
Exceptional communication and collaboration skills for working with diverse teams.
Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
