Occasionally required to drive the emergency vehicle and is required to operate a two-way radio. The Paramedic is the primary care giver and is responsible for coordinating the clinical activities of the ambulance team.

SUMMARY:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Provide patient care in accordance with company policies, procedures, protocols, guidelines, directives and standards.
- Maintain working knowledge and proficiency of anatomy, physiology, pharmacology and other standards of care specific to the employee’s level of certification.
- Respond to all assigned calls in an appropriate, safe and efficient manner
- Complete required documentation, obtain appropriate signatures and submit documentation as required for each assigned call at the end of each assigned shift.
- Efficiently utilize supplies and equipment according to departmental guidelines; to include the efficient operation of all basic and advanced life support equipment, properly logging in and out equipment, cleaning and restocking units, reporting possible abuse or damage of equipment to the Field Operations Supervisor.
- Maintain a thorough working knowledge of local geography and the ability to read map, street and grid books.
- Ensure the unit and equipment are consistently maintained in a clean, organized and ready condition after each response. Ensure proper fuel, fluid and tire pressure levels at all times. Report vehicle equipment damage or malfunctions as outlined in the Field Operations Standard Operating Procedures.
- Complete all station duties and maintain crew quarters in a neat and serviceable condition.
- Perform all of the above functions in accordance with established financial and operational plans and gosl pertaining to cost effectiveness and efficient management.
- Prompt and regular attendance at work.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or GED
- Minimum of 1 year experience as a field Paramedic
- Drivers must be at least 19 years of age
- Paramedic Certification - by the State of Georgia
- Pediatric Advance Life Support (PALS)
- Valid State of Georgia Drivers License
- Knowledge of methods and techniques for providing on-site emergency medical services
- Knowledge of local area EMS and public safety structure
- Knowledge of local, Federal and State insurance billing guidelines for ambulance services.
- Demonstrated ability to read English and understand medical terminology
- Demonstrated ability to write reports, business correspondence, and complete forms.
- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with co-workers, superiors, customers and other public service agency personnel.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively present information and respond to questions regarding patient care, company operations and other customer service issues.
- Employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk and hear.
- Employee frequently is required to stand and walk.
- Employee is required to sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, or crouch for extended periods.
- Employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 180 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 300 pounds with assistance from others.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
