Sr. Automation Systems Engineer

The Raytheon Industry 4.0 – Connected Factory Intelligence and Automation (CFI&A) department has an immediate career‑growth opportunity for an Automation Systems Engineer to join our team in Forest, MS. This onsite role requires a U.S. citizen able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.

• Collaborate with program and factory customers to identify, develop, and define manufacturing automation and digital solutions.
• Support early New Product Introduction activities, including Design for Manufacturing engagements.
• Continuously improve, upgrade, and sustain deployed automation systems using PLC programming, robotics programming, vision programming, HMI programming, SCADA development, and controls upgrades.
• Collaborate with the factory to identify, develop, and deploy process automation systems and digital solutions.
• Provide technical leadership during early project phases and ongoing guidance after transition to the execution team.
• Contribute to the full I4.0 project lifecycle—from requirements generation to technical project management, execution, and sustainment.

• BS in Engineering or a STEM field (or advanced STEM degree). Minimum 5 years of experience in manufacturing operations/engineering, systems engineering, controls engineering, or automation engineering; or 3+ years with an advanced degree.
• Proficiency with industrial robots and PLC programming.
• Experience with industrial vision systems.
• Automation sustainment and troubleshooting expertise, including knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic drawings and schematics.
• Experience with the automation cell lifecycle—scoping requirements and deploying new cells.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government‑issued Secret security clearance (U.S. citizenship required).

• Active DoD Secret clearance.
• Deployment of complex IIoT‑based systems.
• Experience with Cognex and/or Keyence vision systems.
• Professional experience with the full lifecycle deployment and integration of automation systems (vision, robotics, servo, controls, etc.).
• Ignition development experience.
• Python or other scripting experience.
• Data analysis skills.
• Strong communication skills for conveying complex technical information to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
• Knowledge of safety regulations (e.g., OSHA) and electrical compliance.
• Experience with control systems design (AutoCAD preferred).

Salary range: $78,200 – $148,600 USD (good faith estimate).
