Pre-Fab Labor / Core Drilling Operator
Pay Range: $18.00 to $20.00
The Pre‑Fab Laborer / Core Drilling Operator (PFL/CDO) reports to the Pre‑Fab Manager. The PFL/CDO builds pre‑fab assemblies to the specification of the pre‑fab unit and follows direction on coring assignments.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities Pre‑Fab- Ensures quality and efficiency are maintained during the assembly of pre‑fab units.
- Performs the assembly of pre‑fab units as directed by the Pre‑Fab Manager.
- Receives all material associated with the pre‑fab orders and ensures that all material necessary for the assembly is delivered and available.
- Ensures that the pre‑fab work area is kept safe and orderly.
- Coordinates with the Pre‑Fab Manager to ensure that schedules are maintained.
- Upon completion of the order, ensures that the pre‑fab assemblies are securely packaged and ready for delivery.
- Coordinates with the Pre‑Fab Manager & Logistics Manager to schedule deliveries of pre‑fab assemblies.
- Maintains and organizes the warehouse.
- Performs routine maintenance throughout the office/warehouse.
- Performs material restock and organization.
- Threads and cuts conduit.
- Assists in furniture assembly, moving furniture, and hanging wall objects throughout the office/warehouse.
- Assists in collecting trash throughout the facility.
- Communicates with the Pre‑Fab Manager regarding any issues.
- Is directly responsible for coring equipment.
- Is directly responsible for the core truck; drives the core truck to assigned projects.
- Maintains communication with project superintendents regarding cores, manpower, power of the core machine, and any other specific needs.
- Must be competent in making “on the job” decisions.
- Must be able to move/lift coring equipment.
- Must be able to change out core bits accordingly.
- Ensures quality and safety for every core job.
- Must be able to read a tape measure.
- Must be able to use basic hand tools.
- Manages time efficiently during coring.
- Ensures material type being cored before starting.
- Ensures bit size for each core.
- Has basic mechanical aptitude, mathematical, and English language skills.
- Has a current driver’s license.
- Has own reliable transportation.
- Is flexible to come in early and stay late as customer and project demands dictate.
- Can work effectively with superintendents, foremen, and other field personnel.
- Can work well in a “team” environment.
- Is familiar with electrical equipment, materials, and specifications.
- Has the ability to communicate effectively and professionally; in written form and verbally.
- Can monitor own work to ensure quality.
- Can effectively present information to customers, clients, and other employees.
- Personal weight and tools cannot exceed the weight limit of ladders (Class 1‑250lbs, Class 2‑300lbs).
- Can bend, stoop, squat, crawl, climb, kneel, balance, push, pull, and reach over head.
- Constantly moves about on feet.
- Can climb ladders of all types.
- Can complete full‑day assignments.
- Can transition from employee parking area to construction work areas and access all levels of the building, even if access requires OSHA‑approved ladders or stairs still under construction.
- Possesses good vision, normal or corrected.
- Possesses good hearing, normal or corrected.
- Can positively identify different colors.
May work inside or outside while wearing required personal protective equipment at all times; possible exposure to hot and cold temperatures, weather elements, dust, toxic materials, in restricted or confined spaces, and on slippery or uneven surfaces; works on ladders, scaffolds, aerial lifts, catwalks, in ditches and excavations; works in and around single and multi‑story buildings with all exposures typical of a heavy construction site, including portable sanitary facilities.
