Position Purpose
:
Promotes the well-being of children in the Foster Care/Kinship Program, participates in staff meetings and trainings and coordinates with staff from other agencies involved in providing foster care services. Manages a caseload of Families seeking to become Kinship Foster Homes.
Qualifications
:
Master's or bachelor’s degree in Social Work preferred. Employees for this position must meet one of the following options:
- A master’s degree from an accredited college or university in social work or other human services field and
- Nine credit hours in graduate level courses that focus on family and individual function and interaction and
- One year of documented full-time work experience in a child-placing agency conducting child-placing activities.
Alternatively:
- A master’s degree from an accredited college or university; and
- Nine credit hours in graduate level courses that focus on family and individual function and interaction and
- Two years of documented full-time work experience in a child-placing agency conducting child-placing activities.
Or:
- A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in social work or other human services field; and
- Nine credit hours in undergraduate level courses that focus on family and individual function and interaction and
- Two years of documented full-time work experience in a child-placing agency conducting child-placing activities.
Nature And Scope Of Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Manages recruitment activities and coordination with other foster care/kinship staff and agencies.
- Assists with application and inquiry processing to engage families quickly in training.
- Plans, arranges, and oversees foster home/kinship trainings for new homes.
- Monitors and assesses homes for initial verification.
- Assists in the orientation, assessment, and verification of foster/kinship parents.
- Attends case planning conferences at required intervals.
- Conducts foster home/kinship visits.
- Provides 24 hour, on-call support to foster/kinship parents.
- Coordinates community resources for the benefit of children served by the Foster Care/kinship Program.
