Pharmacy Technician / Pharm Tech Apprenticeship

Join Walgreens as a Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacy Technician Apprentice and become part of a patient‑centric team. You’ll be front‑and‑center interacting with customers, developing strong patient relationships, and using Walgreens’ latest technology to grow your career and achieve the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) credential.

$17.00/hr – $20.50/hr

• Assist the pharmacist, under direct supervision, with all pharmacy duties in accordance with state, federal, and company policies.
• Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions accurately.
• Coaching pharmacy technicians (if PTCB certified) on pharmacy system and cashier operation.
• Model and deliver a distinctive, delightful customer experience.
• Greet patients and customers, offer assistance, resolve issues, and answer questions to ensure a positive experience.
• Handle telephone calls that do not require the pharmacist’s personal attention, including those to physicians.
• Assist in the practice of pharmacy during all applicable dispensing activities, adhering to the Walgreens Co. Pharmacy Code of Conduct.
• Register sales on the assigned cash register, collect and handle cash, and assist customers in the OTC aisle when possible.
• Process and resubmit manual claims for third‑party program prescription services efficiently.
• Support pharmacy inventory management: ordering, unpacking, checking, and storing pharmaceutical shipments, filing claims for overages or shortages.
• Assist with clinical services, e.g., collecting and labeling blood/urine samples, and coordinate services with healthcare clinics and external providers.
• Maintain relationships with local medical providers, participate in outreach activities, and support community growth opportunities.
• Present a clean, well‑stocked, and orderly pharmacy department interior and exterior.
• Comply with all company policies, maintain respectful coworker relationships, and complete special assignments as directed.

• Earn and maintain PTCB certification through Walgreens’ training program and/or state‑required certification.
• Attend manager‑requested training and acquire continuing education credits, keeping knowledge up‑to‑date with the latest in healthcare and pharmacy.

• Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English (except in Puerto Rico).
• Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.

• At least six months of experience in a retail environment.
• Prior work experience with Walgreens.
• Strong math skills for accurate prescription filling (counting, measuring, weighing).
• Good computer skills.
• Knowledge of store inventory control.
• PTCB certification.
