The Clinic X-ray/Lab Tech performs quality imaging that assists the Radiologist in diagnoses relevant to the general radiography and fluoroscopy, while minimizing the amount of radiation delivered to the patient. The Clinic X-ray/Lab Tech also collects blood specimens from patients and performs other lab duties under the direction of the physician or mid-level provider.
Responsibilities of this position include:- Proficiently performs basic to advanced x-ray and fluoroscopic procedures. Manipulates c-arm, fluoroscopy, and x-ray devices to produce quality imaging, effectively assisting physicians in procedures that require image guidance. Assists with set up of sterile supplies, equipment, and medications/solutions required for procedure while maintaining a sterile field.
- Communicates with patients to explain procedures, obtain clinical history, confirm patient's understanding, & address questions/concerns. Positions patients properly and selects x-ray techniques in accordance with protocol. Administers contrast media according to protocol and responds appropriately to contrast reactions. Safely images patients to protect patient from unnecessary radiation exposure.
- Assists, communicates, and consults with collaborating providers in an effective manner. Utilizes PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication System) to collaborate with radiologists, ensuring imaging studies are complete and assigned appropriately.
- Utilizes software programs such as PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication System) and EMR (Electronic Medical Record) to maintain accurate and thorough patient documentation. Identifies errors in documentation and takes steps to correct.
- Understands proper cleaning procedures of imaging equipment and takes the steps to ensure functionality of imaging systems, deploying repair requests, as necessary.
- Collects specimens from patients of all ages using various collection devices. Performs venipuncture. Performs waived testing procedures, culture set up and assists in specimen processing. Monitors orders and collection lists ensuring timely collection.
- Organizes, restocks, and cleans outpatient drawing area and all carts, trays and hand helds.
- Orders lab and medical supplies for the clinic as requested or needed.
- Monitors and maintains lab equipment per recommendation.
- Performs EKGs as needed.
- 1 or more year of experience in general radiography
- Must productively interact with patients and staff. Cognitive process to interpret office situations and respond appropriately; adaptable to change; able to cope with stress and criticism.
- Complete annual POC waived testing competency;
Upon hire laboratory competency completed - Radiography certification by the ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists);
Wisconsin Radiographer License; BLS Certificate - Competitive pay
