Compensation: $31.00/hour starting base rate + premium overtime (time-and-a-half after 8 daily hours, guaranteed double-time on Sundays)
An established, century-old food manufacturing company in the Greater Madison, WI area is seeking a Mechanical Maintenance Technician for 2nd shift. This role is central to keeping high-speed processing and packaging lines running safely and reliably within a facility known for its strong safety culture, collaborative team environment, and long-tenured workforce.
What you'll do- Perform mechanical troubleshooting, rapid fault-tracing, and emergency breakdown repairs on high-speed packaging equipment and processing cells
- Troubleshoot, rebuild, and optimize conveyor networks, high-speed belts, sortation lines, gearboxes, and mechanical drive assemblies
- Inspect, overhaul, and service high-pressure pneumatic systems, pneumatic valves, hydraulic pumps, cylinders, and fluid distribution loops
- Use MIG/TIG welding equipment to modify machinery frameworks, fabricate brackets, repair machine guards, and reinforce production components
- Partner with floor leadership to ensure equipment and work areas comply with sanitation guidelines, safety protocols, and GMP standards
- 1+ year of verifiable mechanical maintenance experience in a fast-paced production setting, with core strength in hydraulics, pneumatics, and conveyors
- Demonstrated ability to perform basic structural welding, torch cutting, and metal fitting for machinery repair
- Full comfort working in a food-safe processing environment with strict commitment to cleanliness, safety, and GMP compliance
- Stable employment history showing strong attendance, safety dedication, and teamwork
- Residence within a comfortable, daily 45-minute commute of the Greater Madison, WI area
- Must have U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Residency (Green Card holder)
- Prior experience in a USDA, FDA, or SQF-regulated food processing or pharmaceutical manufacturing plant
- Exposure to automated pouchers, shrink wrappers, cartoners, or rotary labeling equipment
- Basic electrical/motor controls ability, including wiring AC motors, checking fuses, and troubleshooting basic 24V/120V sensor circuits
- $31.00/hour starting base rate
- Premium overtime structure: time-and-a-half after 8 daily hours plus guaranteed double-time on Sundays
