Job Description
Fibertek is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented engineer to support the U.S. Army’s Research and Technology Division at Fort Belvoir, VA, as an entry-level electro-optical engineer. The role involves research, development, demonstration, and test/evaluation of US Army laser-based programs. The candidate will support the program throughout requirements formation, concept development, critical feature identification, prototype design, testing, and evaluation.
Job Duties
- Support the US Army’s mission to develop and improve laser-based technology for the Warfighter.
- Design, develop, set up, and integrate systems; review system requirements and objectives.
- Use 3-D modeling software, 3-D print components, write basic code, align optical components, and test operations.
- Conduct lab experiments and field testing at component and system levels; collect measurements and data; draft test reports.
- Maintain inventory of systems.
- Collaborate with other engineers and staff on system design and resolve engineering issues.
- Follow all safety protocols and assist with safety inspections.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Desired Skills and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Science fields; relevant experience considered for other disciplines.
- Experience in engineering or science and technology, including 3-D modeling, 3-D printing, and programming.
- Manual dexterity and fine motor skills for optical component alignment.
- Proficiency in MS Office, PowerPoint, and MS Project.
- Excellent communication, writing, and editing skills.
- US citizenship and active DoD clearance required.
- On-site position at Fort Belvoir, VA.
