Pro Sidian is seeking a Public Affairs Specialist for Communications Support Services on an exempt 1099 contract. The position is full‑time, located on‑site in the Fort Belvoir, Virginia area (and across the Mid‑Atlantic CONUS region), supporting Army Reserve headquarters in managing strategic communications, public affairs, outreach, and leadership messaging in a secure federal environment. The role is a W‑2 employee position with benefits and a competitive salary.

OVERVIEW

Provide services and support as a Public Affairs Specialist in the Aerospace and Defense industry sector, focusing on IT Effectiveness solutions for clients such as U.S. Army Reserve (USAR | OCAR) and the Office of the Chief Army Reserve (OCAR). The role involves crafting and delivering trusted Army Reserve messaging, securing mission communications that connect leaders, Soldiers, families, and stakeholders, and executing public affairs, outreach, executive messaging, media content, and stakeholder communications.

The emphasis is on speech writing, briefing development, editorial control, and leadership communications.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
  • Research, draft, edit, and produce executive communications.
  • Support outreach programs and manage publications and social media.
  • Assist with branding and graphic coordination.
  • Translate senior leader intent into clear, mission‑aligned communication products.
  • Develop and manage media relations, social media strategies, and basic graphic design.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to ensure cohesive messaging.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • 5+ years experience in public affairs, media relations, journalism, or 3+ years U.S. Army public affairs experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Affairs or a related field, or 10 years equivalent experience.
  • Strong writing, editing, and media relations skills.
  • Social media management and basic graphic design proficiency.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Access, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word) and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Background check and drug testing required; U.S. citizenship required; NACI and Secret clearance eligible; NDA required.
