Senior Linux Administrator
Position at Leidos for the DTRA program, located in Fort Belvoir, VA. The role supports the DTRA I3TS Infrastructure Services team to maintain and optimize the Linux production environment. Responsibilities include sustaining Linux servers, conceptualizing, designing, developing, and implementing new Linux capabilities, and working with the Systems Administration team using ITIL best practices.
ClearanceMust hold a Top Secret/SCI clearance.
Required Skills- Familiarity with system automation technologies, basic database administration, and tuning.
- High problem‑solving ability in a complex environment and effective communication with customers and team members.
- Provisioning servers and environments.
- Managing user access.
- Maintaining servers in a virtual environment.
- Automation knowledge: scripting in Unix shell and Ansible playbooks.
- Maintain and improve configuration management templates.
- Monitoring system performance and responding to alerts.
- Establishing and maintaining NTP services in the production environment.
- Maintaining satellite servers for software releases and patches.
- Experience with emerging technologies such as Kubernetes, Open Shift, Containers, Git Hub, Ansible Tower.
- Ensuring compliance with security standards and practices aligned with DoD STIGs.
- Experience with web servers and certificates (Open Source: Apache, Hadoop, Zookeeper, Puppet; App Servers: JBoss, Tomcat, Jetty, NGINX, HTTP).
- Bachelor’s degree with 8+ years of experience, or Master’s degree with 4‑6 years of experience in IT operations working with Linux servers and virtualization.
- Must hold a Top Secret/SCI clearance.
- 2‑3+ years of Windows Server experience.
- 2‑3 years of web‑server management and implementation experience.
- Understanding of virtualized infrastructure, backup and restoration procedures, STIG application, and cyber hardening.
- Basic log‑file analysis experience.
- Basic Red Hat Satellite experience for deploying, configuring, and maintaining RHEL across physical, virtual, and cloud environments.
- Basic knowledge of Red Hat provisioning, patching, Satellite Capsules, DHCP/DNS, subscription management, content views, and system auditing.
- Basic command‑line tools experience: system management, RPM packages, package management.
- IAT II (8570) certification.
- Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) – preferred.
Pay range: $92,300 – $166,850.
