Sr. SQL Database Administrator (DBA) with Security Clearance
We are seeking a senior SQL Database Administrator to partner on a large enterprise IT contract for the DoD at Fort Belvoir, VA. The DBA performs day‑to‑day technical database administration tasks including database design, structure identification, schema definition, access privilege management, query optimization, documentation, instance upgrades, and protection.
Primary Responsibilities- Perform senior‑level database administration tasks and review the technical work of others.
- Conduct database design, structure identification, schema definition, and access privilege management.
- Optimize queries, manage database instance upgrades, long‑range requirements, operational guidelines, and database protection.
- Review data integrity, maintain support tools, tables, and dictionaries, and develop recovery and backup procedures.
- Monitor and manage backend data synchronization applications and external data source retrieval.
- Examine customer problems, develop and present solutions, and implement corrective actions.
- Collaborate on and implement technical solutions with senior management and clients.
- Provide remote and desk‑side support.
- Support development and adherence to procedures and policies in a 24/7/365 environment.
- Update technical solutions, operations, and maintenance documentation for 24/7/365 personnel.
- B.S. with 8 + years of relevant experience or M.S. with 4‑6 years; education and training may be considered in lieu of degree.
- Experience with SQL Server; preferably Postgres or Oracle; also familiarity with MySQL.
- Strong knowledge of database design, structure, and schema definition.
- Experience implementing recovery and backup procedures and applying security patches.
- Ability to work independently on technical database administration activities supporting client on MySQL and/or Oracle databases.
- Experience developing methodologies, presenting solutions, and interfacing with senior management and clients.
- Minimum DoD 8570.11‑IAT Level II certification (currently Security+, CCNA‑Security, GSEC, or SSCP).
- Active TS/SCI clearance required.
