Driver Position
Join us as a Driver for Camp Mendocino, a residential summer camp located in Northern California during the summer season of 2026. This role is part of the Boys & Girls Clubs of San Francisco (BGCSF) and involves safe transportation and support for staff and campers.
DescriptionCamp Mendocino is a 2,000‑acre residential summer camp located four hours north of San Francisco. As a driver, you will transport staff and campers between San Francisco and the camp, conduct pickups of materials as needed, and support the maintenance team with tasks such as trash pickup, dishwashing, and light repairs. All camp employees are expected to live, sleep, and work at camp during the season.
Key Responsibilities- Drive camp vehicles to transport staff and campers to hospitals, pickups, or home as needed.
- Provide transportation for staff on the first and last days of each camp session.
- Complete required paperwork for all trips.
- Fuel vehicles and use gas credit cards responsibly.
- Perform vehicle checks to ensure passenger safety.
- Adhere to all driving codes and regulations.
- Maintain vehicle cleanliness and general maintenance.
- Supervise campers as required.
- Communicate respectfully with campers, staff, parents, families, and guests.
- Support other areas and departments at camp (dishwashing, trash pickup, painting, carpentry, plumbing, wood chopping) when not driving.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Valid Class B driver’s license.
- Clean driving record.
- Ability to drive for 4+ hours without breaks.
- Ability to drive at night if needed.
- Comfortable driving a 12+ passenger van.
- Cell phone.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Honesty and accountability.
- Strong work ethic.
- Good communication skills.
- Ability to work positively with youth and coworkers.
- Knowledge of vehicle maintenance and upkeep.
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
- Must be able to walk on uneven terrain for at least 3 miles.
- Must be able to stand for 8 hours (with breaks).
- Must be able to work in temperatures ranging from 30° F to 100° F.
- Temporary/Seasonal summer position.
- Applicants should be available June 12 – August 6 2026 to work and live on‑site at Camp Mendocino.
- Staff work 40–56 hours/week depending on position with two days off per week; days off vary per session.
Lodging is provided for all staff on site. Camp drivers will not be required to stay in a cabin with youth on a regular basis but will be assigned bunk‑style indoor housing that may be shared with up to 8 other staff members.

The wage range for this temporary summer position during June 12 – August 6 2026 is $4,195.00. The dollar figure reflects the entry‑level estimate; actual compensation may vary based on experience, skill set, etc.
