Camp Mendocino is a residential summer camp located in Northern California, four hours north of San Francisco and spread over 2,000 acres. We provide transportation between San Francisco and Camp at the start and end of the summer. All Camp employees are expected to live, sleep and work a program of the Boys & Girls Clubs of San Francisco (BGCSF), we are dedicated to providing children and teens with safe, fun places to learn and grow, with professional staff to offer support and guidance, serving as caring mentors and role models.

The Kitchen Staff provides high quality service to all campers, staff, and guests in the dining hall. The kitchen staff team preps and serves meals, cleans the kitchen area, and works as a close team. Entry-level kitchen staff should have basic large-volume food prep and knife skills. Some additional skills can be learned on the job.
Key Responsibilities- Prep work for high-volume meals (serving 300+ guests each meal)
- Maintaining food quality and sanitation standards
- Maintain accurate records, understand and carry out oral instructions; flexibility and ability to follow instructions
- Keep kitchen and equipment clean and organized
- Serve food to campers, staff, and guests
- Dishwashing as needed
- Other duties as assigned
- Experience working in a commercial kitchen
- Experience cooking for large groups
- Knowledge of standards of food preparation and serving, and kitchen procedures
- Strong work ethic
- Work well under pressure
- Ability to work with youth in a positive manner
- Ability to work in a team
- Good communication skills
- Food Handling Certification
- Experience working with youth
- Ability to work well with others
- Experience working in a summer camp environment
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
- Must be able to walk on uneven terrain for at least 3 miles
- Must be able to stand for 8 hours (with breaks)
- Must be able to work in temperatures ranging from 30° to 100°
- Temporary/Seasonal Summer position.
- Applicants should be available June 12 - August 6, 2026 to work & live on-site at our Camp location in Northern California (Mendocino County).
- Staff members work 40-56 hours/week depending on position with two days off per week. Days off vary per session.
- Lodging is provided for all staff on site. Kitchen Staff will not be required to stay in a cabin with youth on a regular basis, but will be assigned bunk-style indoor housing that may be shared with up to 3 other staff members.
- Onsite lodging is provided for all staff.
- Three cooked meals per day are provided onsite, including on days off (gluten-free, vegan, & vegetarian options).

The wage range for this role is $4,195 for the temporary summer position from June 12 - August 6, 2026. Compensation may vary based on skill sets, experience, training, licensure, certifications, and other business needs.
