Nurse Practitioner - Graduate School of Nursing Position Overview
HJF is seeking a Nurse Practitioner I to serve as a research team member at the Uniformed Services University Graduate School of Nursing in the Military Women’s Health Program located in Bethesda, MD. The Research Nurse Practitioner will be located at the Womack Army Regional Medical Center (WAMC), Fort Liberty, NC. This role is temporary and part‑time, and involves patient recruitment, vaginal specula exams, sample collection and analysis, and reporting data to the research team.
Responsibilities- Knowledgeable and proficient with women’s health care, collecting, organizing, cataloging, disseminating, and maintaining current data files.
- Assist in writing, editing, and managing protocols; support Institutional Review Boards (IRBs).
- Educate participants on research protocol, purpose, procedures, participant responsibilities, and risks and benefits of participation; explain informed consent.
- Provide assistance, consultation, assessment, and monitoring of research subjects for enrollment in studies.
- Perform vaginal specula exams on study participants and maintain records of results; prescribe therapies within protocol limits.
- Assist with participant management, including clinic setup, booking appointments, returning phone calls, and distributing study information.
- Report to and provide direct feedback to Senior and Site‑Principal Investigators, monitoring quality of participation and protocol adherence.
- May perform other duties as assigned or directed by the Senior and Site‑Principal Investigators; may attend required training.
Education and Experience: Master’s Degree in Nursing required; 3–5 years of experience.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of procedures and techniques necessary for performing clinical responsibilities related to research protocols.
- Knowledge of causes of pain and modalities of pain control.
- Ability to take initiative and develop proposals and protocols; excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to maintain accurate and complete files.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a T1 public trust investigation.
Licenses and
Certifications:
Nurse Practitioner License required.
Work Environment: Position primarily in a clinic setting.
Compensation: Hourly pay range: $44.76–$72.50, with actual pay determined by experience and education.
