Senior Military Family Life Counselor PRN

SummaryMilitary Family Life Counselor is a licensed mental health professional who provides face‑to‑face, non‑medical, brief, solution‑focused counseling services to individuals, couples, families, and groups for situations resulting from common life circumstances such as parenting, relationship conflicts, stress, personal loss, and deployments.
Responsibilities- Partner with Service Family Centers, Guard and Reserve programs, unit family support staff and other programs to build coalitions and connect resources to support Active Duty, Guard and Reserve families.
- Identify family needs and provide a “get‑well” plan in compliance with non‑medical counseling scope.
- Provide non‑medical problem‑solving counseling to families when other resources are not available and make appropriate referrals and warm transfers to military and community resources.
- Consult with military commands and installation service providers as requested.
- Develop and use approved training and education programs and advise on requests for new or revised presentations by military leadership.
- Track client services and referrals using the MHN portal.
- Record all required deliverables via portal:
Availability for Services Tool and Activity Form Submission within 24 hours of initial contact. - Maintain a 7‑hour average work day: 5 hours face‑to‑face contact and 3 hours ancillary contacts daily; notify supervisor of any hindrances.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Master’s Degree in a clinically relevant field from an accredited university.
- Full license to practice independently in one of the U.S. states or territories as a Clinical Social Worker, Marriage Family Therapist, or Psychologist without restrictions or supervision (e.g., LCSW, LISW, MFT, LPC, etc.).
- Minimum three (3) years of post‑license experience.
- Minimum one (1) year of Military Family Life Counselor experience.
Skills And Abilities
- Ability to obtain a Secret Security Clearance.
- Demonstrated counseling competence.
- Knowledge of military lifestyle and issues that impact families.
- Ability to develop and present effective group presentations.
- Ability to accurately assess needs and make referrals to appropriate resources.
- Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships using tact and diplomacy.
- Computer skills sufficient to create, maintain, and send reports.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and use independent judgment.
- Travel between work sites may be required.
- Regularly required to sit, talk, or hear; use repeated motions including arms, wrists, hands, and fingers.
- Occasionally required to walk, stand, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
- Close vision required.
Up to USD $43.47/Hr.
