Job OverviewThe Truck Driver - Heavy operates commercial and military-style heavy vehicles to transport Army equipment and supplies. This role requires a valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) and adherence to U.S. Army, DOT, OSHA, and contract requirements for safe and efficient movement of government property. The driver supports inbound and outbound movements, mass turn‑ins, and local/line‑haul operations, ensuring equipment is delivered, staged, and documented properly.
Responsibilities- Transportation & Driving Duties:
- Operate heavy trucks, tractor‑trailers, and flatbeds.
- Support equipment turn‑in operations by hauling assets from Army units.
- Assist with loading, securing, and unloading cargo using chains, binders, straps, and blocking/bracing.
- Conduct local and long‑haul missions in compliance with Army movement requirements.
- Vehicle Inspection & Maintenance:
- Perform preventive maintenance checks (PMCS).
- Report deficiencies and coordinate repairs.
- Maintain driver logs, trip tickets, fuel records, etc.
- Documentation & Compliance:
- Complete shipping and transport documents (DD Form 1348‑1A, DD Form 626, DD Form 836, TCMDs, bills of lading).
- Comply with DOT, Army safety standards, and HAZMAT rules.
- Update logistics systems (TC‑AIMS II, GCSS‑Army).
- Safety & Security:
- Adhere to OSHA, Army, and company safety procedures.
- Ensure proper load securement and weight distribution.
- Safeguard government property and report incidents immediately.
- Support to Site Operations:
- Assist warehouse teams with staging and positioning equipment.
- Coordinate mass turn‑in events.
- Provide transportation updates to the Transportation Coordinator and Site Manager.
- Any other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid CDL (Class A or
B) required;
Army OF 346 license preferred. - HAZMAT endorsement preferred/required if hauling hazardous materials.
- 3‑5 years of heavy truck driving experience; prior Army or contractor logistics experience preferred.
- Familiarity with military or government cargo movement desirable.
- Knowledge of DOT/FMCSA safety regulations.
- Knowledge of Army transportation regulations (AR 55‑355, AR 710‑2, DTR 4500.9‑R).
- Experience with Army forms and documentation.
- Strong attention to detail for load securement and documentation.
- Good communication skills for coordination.
- Ability to work in high‑tempo environments with shifting priorities.
- Must have a REAL .
- Must be able to travel at least 50% to 75% (required 75%).
- Valid Colorado driver license with proof of vehicle insurance.
