Project Superintendent

Hutch Design + Build is a residential design-build firm in Fort Collins. We specialize in kitchen and bath remodels, additions, whole-house remodels, and new custom homes across Northern Colorado. We design, build, and furnish all under one roof.

You’ll report to our Director of Construction, and together you’ll run three to four active jobs. The Director sets each job’s starting budget and schedule with your input at kickoff, and manages the client relationship. From there, you run the job: keep it on budget and on schedule, keep updates current in Buildertrend, and hold the trades and yourself accountable. You’ll have a spending limit for small field decisions so the job keeps moving without a phone call, and you’ll keep homeowners updated directly between milestone walkthroughs.

You own the field: deciding what happens on site each day, in what order, by whom, and making sure it’s done right. You’ll have support from a design team for drawings and selections, an office lead for admin and ordering, and a trusted group of long-standing trade partners. We subcontract our work, so this role is about managing people, not doing the labor.

You may pitch in to fill small gaps (trade skills are a plus), but management and people skills are what matter most.

We’re looking for someone proactive rather than reactive, who handles stress well and can manage multiple priorities at a professional level. You read the plans before the framer arrives, catch problems at rough‑in instead of at punch, and keep a site clean and orderly.

• Daily site supervision across your jobs. Target is 80% of your hours on active sites.
• Running each job to the budget and schedule set at kickoff, keeping both current in Buildertrend, and flagging drift early.
• Sequencing trades, inspections, and deliveries so nothing waits, and resolving material or labor needs within 24 hours.
• Making on‑site calls yourself. Escalate the ones that change money or scope. Decide the rest.
• Daily logs in Buildertrend by the end of each day, plus a weekly log so the office knows where every job stands.
• Daily site safety and cleanliness, with a formal weekly inspection.
• Homeowner updates between milestones, and milestone walkthroughs with the Director of Construction and Designer (framing, drywall, trim, pre‑punch).
• Closing out punch lists on time and handing off complete closeout packages.

Every team member has written performance objectives we score together monthly. Yours:

• 90% of project milestones hit within 3 days of the scheduled date
• 90% of jobs finish within 5% of the starting budget; zero schedule delays from missing materials or unclear scope
• Zero safety violations per quarter; site cleanliness 3+ out of 5 on weekly inspections
• Daily logs submitted same-day on 100% of active job days
• Zero re‑do items from missed construction document details
• Action items from weekly meetings logged in Buildertrend and closed by their due date
• Clients rate the build 4.5+ out of 5 at closeout

• 5+ years of experience in residential remodeling or custom home construction, including a minimum of 2 years running sites as a lead or superintendent
• Ability to read full plan set drawings and spec sheets and identify conflicts before they become costly
• Confident and comfortable running several jobs and trade partners at the same time
• Familiar with Buildertrend, CoConstruct, or similar software
• Clear, honest communicator with homeowners, trades, and the office. You close loops before anyone has to ask.
• OSHA 10 or 30 is a plus
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record. Must live in Northern Colorado or be willing to relocate, since this role requires regular travel between active jobsites.
