Accounting Manager

Vaco is searching for a Controller to help lead the financial division for a client located in Fort Collins, CO. This is a fully in office position. The Controller oversees all day-to-day accounting operations for the organization. This position ensures the accuracy and integrity of the Company's financial records, supports monthly and annual close processes, and implements internal controls to safeguard assets.

The Controller collaborates with the Financial Director and operational leaders to ensure the timely delivery of financial data that supports strategic decision-making.

• Manage the day-to-day accounting functions, including A/P, A/R, payroll, fixed assets, balance sheet and general ledger.
• Oversee month-end and year-end closing processes to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
• Maintain and reconcile intercompany accounts.
• Assist with consolidated financial statements across multiple entities.
• Prepare and post journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and accruals.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and the Company's accounting policies and procedures.

• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Support variance analysis against budgets and forecasts; identify opportunities to improve financial performance.
• Assist in the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and long-term financial models.
• Develop and maintain internal reporting tools and dashboards to improve visibility of financial performance.

• Support annual tax filings, audits, and external reviews by coordinating with external CPA firms.
• Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local reporting requirements.
• Maintain internal controls to ensure accuracy and prevent fraud or misuse of company assets.

• Support the implementation and optimization of accounting software, reporting tools, and automation initiatives.
• Identify and streamline inefficient accounting workflows.
• Assist with ERP, HRIS, and financial system integrations related to the Common Pay Agent structure.

• Supervise accounting staff and support professional development and cross-training.
• Collaborate with the Financial Director, HR, and Operations to ensure financial accuracy and policy compliance.
• Contribute to the development of accounting policies and procedures to ensure standardization across all entities.

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA or CMA preferred.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including prior experience managing a small accounting team.
• Strong understanding of GAAP and internal control practices.
• Proficiency in accounting software (Quick Books Enterprise, Net Suite, or equivalent ERP), and advanced Excel skills.
• Experience with multi-entity consolidation, intercompany transactions, and shared service environments preferred.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
