The Advanced Compute and Solutions Desktop Workstations R&D Technical Program Manager (TPM) applies developed subject matter knowledge to solve common and complex business issues within established guidelines and recommends appropriate alternatives. Works on problems of diverse complexity and scope. Will act as a team or project leader providing direction to R&D team program activities and facilitates information validation and team decision making process.
Exercises independent judgment within generally defined policies and practices to identify and select a solution. Ability to handle most unique situations. May seek advice in order to make decisions on complex business issues. The TPM must utilize knowledge and experience in leading the R&D team and monitoring business performance including budget. The TPM utilizes experience to anticipate and proactively address program issues and challenges.
The TPM is expected to be able to resolve a majority of issues and diffuse situations in order to avoid unnecessary escalations to the executive staff.
- Manages and leads a program involving one or more functions and project teams to drive the engineering development and implementation process for a subsystem or component of a product or service offering.
- Leads moderate to high complexity projects, delivering professionally written reports, and supports the realization of operational and strategic plans.
- Understands the technical concepts, architecture, systems, development methods, and disciplines associated with the defined program, and utilizes knowledge to accelerate project completion.
- Leads the deployment, launch, and continuous improvement of new technologies & process automation developed within the company's worldwide engineering team.
- Develops schedules, critical deliverables, budget, resource allocation plan, logistics, and other support requirements for assigned program in collaboration with both the company & contract manufacturing teams.
- Coordinates activities of supporting project teams and internal and external development partners; tracks progress against established plan and makes decisions to alter or update schedule and resource allocation to meet product requirements and development schedule.
- Communicates program progress, escalations, and issue analysis to product stakeholders; collaborates with management and internal manufacturing and development partners to implement changes to product, process, or program plan to resolve escalated issues, produce solutions, and ensure adherence to budgets and established product roadmaps and schedules.
- Leads bug tracking resolution and reporting of program risks, status, and options for resolution to executive management.
- Solves difficult and complex problems with a fresh perspective, demonstrating good judgment in selecting creative solutions and managing projects independently.
- Leads and provides guidance and mentoring to less-experienced staff members.
- Four-year or Graduate Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business Administration, or any other related discipline or commensurate work experience or demonstrated competence.
