Human Services Deputy Director
Larimer County Department of Human Services seeks a highly motivated, innovative, and enthusiastic staff member to serve as the Human Services Deputy Director.
Locations: 1501 Blue Spruce Drive, Fort Collins, CO; 2555 Midpoint Drive, Fort Collins, CO; or 200 Peridot Avenue, Loveland, CO. Standard schedule Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., with flexibility. This is an appointed, at-will position.
Responsibilities- Support the leadership of the Department’s Executive Leadership Team.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of short‑ and long‑range strategic plans, policies, and procedures.
- Help coordinate programs, staff, and resources; set priorities to ensure compliance with laws, rules, and regulations.
- Lead internal and external projects and initiatives that advance departmental goals.
- Build and maintain collaborative, inclusive working relationships with managers, supervisors, employees, and external stakeholders.
- Serve as the delegated decision‑maker in the absence of the Human Services Director, as assigned.
- Extensive leadership experience with direct oversight of executive‑level staff.
- Experience in coaching, professional development, and performance management.
- Proven ability to lead strategic planning efforts.
- Experience with policy development and implementation.
- Knowledge of financial administration, including budgeting and resource allocation.
- Experience leading complex internal and external projects.
- Ability to work collaboratively across departments and external partners.
- Seven (7) years of experience in a human service field or performing similar duties, including management of programs and personnel, with at least five (5) years in supervision and administration of human services programs.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university majoring in Social Work, Psychology, Behavioral Sciences, Human Services, Business or Public Administration, or a related field.
- Ability to obtain or possess a valid Driver’s License.

Spanish language proficiency may qualify the applicant for additional pay under the County’s Second Language Compensation Program. All new employees and rehires will be required to submit fingerprints for a CBI criminal background check (c.r.s. 26‑6‑104).
