SalaryAnnual Salary Range: $44,658.00 – $66,987.00 (biweekly pay)

The role supports materials management and tracking for utility warehousing operations as a Materials Management Technician. Responsibilities include coordinating warehouse activities, managing receiving, storage, movement, and issuing of materials, tools, equipment, and products, and maintaining efficient stock organization.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Assist with warehouse shipping, receiving, consolidating weekly statements, approving payments, and backup to warehouse workers.
- Unload, load, and transport material using a forklift truck.
- Operate, inspect, and maintain forklift to ensure safe operation and schedule necessary repairs.
- Examine delivered materials for damage and verify compliance with purchase orders and specifications.
- Move, stack, and shelve material in and out of storage.
- Assist with physical inventory on a weekly, monthly, and yearly schedule.
- Enter issue documents into the Material Management System and verify accuracy.
Skills and Abilities
- Highly dependable self‑starter with the ability to work independently and prioritize tasks.
- Forklift operation capability.
- Proficiency with power and hand tools (torches, drills, saws, impact wrenches).
- Knowledge of materials handling, storage methods, and NMFC freight rates.
- Ability to read material specifications, drawings, and use database, spreadsheet, and word‑processing software.
- Ability to perform maintenance and repair of warehouse equipment.
- Customer service skills and strong communication (oral and written).
- Understanding of City and Department policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of electrical, water, and broadband inventories relevant to utility systems.
- Ability to advise on material application in utility systems.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Experience in a warehouse (preferably 1 year or equivalent combination of education and experience).
- Valid driver’s license.
- Forklift certification or willingness to obtain one.
