The Fort Dodge Community School District is seeking a reliable, flexible, and enthusiastic short-term substitute to fill in for an employee on leave. The duration of this assignment is estimated to last between 1 and 12 weeks, depending on the circumstances. This role will support students and/or staff by maintaining continuity in instruction, supervision, and/or operations in the absent employee’s role.
This position is not benefits eligible.
- Deliver lessons and follow plans provided by the regular staff member (as applicable).
- Maintain a safe, respectful, and productive environment.
- Monitor student behavior and maintain classroom or work area expectations.
- Communicate effectively with students, staff, and administrators.
- Follow school policies, procedures, and daily schedules.
- Perform other duties as assigned that support the continuity of the absent employee’s role.
- Performs other duties, as assigned.
- Reliable work attendance is required.
- Current substitute authorization through the Iowa Board of Educational Examiners.
Skills And Abilities
- Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy enabling differentiation
- Knowledge of data information systems, data analysis and the formulation of action plans.
- Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students.
- Ability to use computer network system, technology devices and software applications.
- Ability to organize and coordinate work.
- Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, coworkers and the greater community.
- Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others.
- Travels to school district buildings and professional meetings as required
- Works in indoor and outdoor environments.
