Under general supervision of the school principal, a teacher provides a high-quality education through effective planning, delivering instruction, assessing student achievement and progress, and managing the learning environment to meet students’ academic and social-emotional needs.

• Utilizes research-based strategies to address unfinished learning.
• Plan and deliver daily lessons aligned to state and district standards that meet students’ needs to ensure growth.
• Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet student learner differences.
• Establish and communicate clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects.
• Establish and communicate clear standards of student behavior to ensure a safe, welcoming, and effective learning environment.
• Monitor student learning daily to identify areas of growth and need.
• Build positive relationships with students and engage their families to support student growth and learning.
• Assess student learning using data and feedback to inform instructional practices.
• Maintain accurate and complete student records as required by district policy, regulations, and law.
• Maintain knowledge of and comply with the eight Iowa Teaching Standards.
• Participate in required professional development and meetings.
• Maintain confidentiality.
• Maintain positive working relationships with the public, students, and staff.
• Assist with other duties as assigned.

• Bachelor’s degree in teaching field.
• Iowa teaching license with appropriate endorsement for subject area.
• Interpersonal skills exhibiting friendliness, tact, patience, and courtesy.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong organizational, multi-tasking, and prioritizing skills.
• Knowledge of classroom technologies or willingness to acquire this knowledge.
• Flexibility and adaptability to meet daily requirements.
• Experience working in or willingness to acquire skills in a culturally and linguistically diverse environment.
