What You’ll Be DoingWe are searching for a talented Project Accountant who will be responsible for performing detailed accounting and costing functions for specific projects. The role includes job costing, project analysis, payroll assistance, monthly journal entries, account analysis, month‑end closing, and production of monthly reports for management.
Responsibilities- Manage all accounting functions for assigned projects, including billing, cost tracking, and closeout.
- Ensure all contract and accounting requirements are met, including Certified Payroll, AIA Billing, Releases of Liens, and Affidavits.
- Collect, review, and analyze job cost data such as materials, labor, subcontractors, and equipment.
- Compare actual costs against budgets or estimates and investigate variances.
- Prepare and process project billings, including progress and final invoices, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Serve as the liaison between customers, Account Managers, and internal accounting teams on all accounting‑related matters.
- Provide management with accurate job cost summaries, WIP analysis, and profitability reports.
- Prepare monthly journal entries, maintain accruals, and perform account reconciliations.
- Support month‑end closing processes and assist in preparing financial reports for management review.
- Coordinate with Project Managers, Account Executives, and Accounts Receivable to ensure jobs are properly set up, recorded, and billed.
- Manage collection of retainage and past‑due balances where applicable.
- Maintain organized project documentation, including change orders, purchase orders, and subcontract agreements.
- Participate in continuous improvement of job cost and project accounting processes.
- BS Degree in Accounting required.
- Expertise with Job Costing and General Accounting skills required.
- Minimum of 2–5 years of accounting experience, preferably in construction or related industry.
- Strong knowledge of computerized accounting systems with financial analysis capabilities.
- Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Microsoft Dynamics, and Business Central.
- Excellent communication skills, detail‑oriented, highly organized, and able to multi‑task and meet deadlines.
- Strong sense of urgency.
