What You Will Do- Supervise and direct the work of child protective investigators and support staff.
- Spend the majority of time communicating with, motivating, training, and evaluating employees.
- Supervise, plan and direct workloads, workflows, deadlines, and time utilization of subordinate staff.
- Develop performance standards and job duty expectations, and review standards for continuous improvement.
- Communicate investigators’ compliance, provide coaching, and acknowledge outstanding performance.
- Evaluate employees against established standards and take corrective action as needed.
- Promote career development by ensuring proper training and leading cross‑training efforts.
- Review casework and provide guidance to ensure quality, clarity, and thorough documentation.
- Use management tools in the information system to monitor open cases and manage workflow.
- Ensure operations comply with legislative authority, federal and state regulations.
- Identify and implement improvements to program effectiveness and efficiency.
- Facilitate hiring, promotion, discipline, and dismissal decisions.
- Collect, analyze, and report data on child protective investigations.
- Maintain cooperative relationships with community agencies, law enforcement, medical personnel, schools, and other resources.
- Ensure effective communication with deaf or hard‑of‑hearing customers, managing service records and reporting needs.
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in social work or related field preferred.
- At least 2 years in child welfare, specifically child abuse investigations.
- Current/Active Child Welfare Certification credentials from the Florida Certification Board.
- Trained and practicing Florida’s Safety Practice method.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Operational private vehicle for use in daily work activities; proof of registration and insurance required.
- Knowledge of theories and practice in child protection.
- Knowledge of professional ethics related to child protection and counseling.
- Knowledge of family‑centered interview and counseling techniques.
- Knowledge of interviewing and observation techniques.
- Skilled in considering child development in guiding placement of children.
- Ability to recognize indicators of abuse and neglect.
- Ability to conduct risk and safety investigations.
- Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments.
- Ability to understand and apply relevant laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Ability to actively listen to others.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Ability to maintain well‑executed case files.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
- Ability to utilize computer systems.
- Ability to write accurate investigative reports.

Additional Information / Requirements- Position requires night, weekend, holiday work and is designated as essential.
