This is an OPS (Other Personal Services) position; no paid time off is offered. Health benefits will be offered for full‑time employment. OPS employees are eligible to participate in a deferred compensation plan. The assistant will work at various sites located throughout Broward County.
PositionDuties & Responsibilities
The Dental Assistant provides direct and indirect assistance to the clinical dentist in chairside care and performs expanded duty dental assisting functions as provided by the Dental Practice Act of Florida. This float‑to‑practice position requires the assistant to report directly to the Lead Dentist and to the Dental Director and administrator.
Responsibilities- Provide instruction in proper oral hygiene skills, including tooth brushing and flossing, and in nutrition‑caries relationships. Distribute and explain patient education materials. Instruct expectant mothers of clinic patients.
- Input patient treatment data into the Health Department patient service HMS computer system and Eaglesoft.
- Participate in internal committees and attend required CHD meetings. Actively foster a positive teamwork environment, prioritizing patient care. Complete Employee Activity Reports daily and submit weekly. Check and respond to emails at least once a day.
- Perform other duties as required.
- Willingness to work before, during, or after normal hours in emergencies, including special‑needs or disaster situations.
- Valid driver’s license free of major infractions and access to a vehicle for work purposes.
- Expanded‑duty certificate.
- Radiology certificate.
- At least one (1) year of experience in a dental practice.
- Experience with dental billing, scheduling, and appointment control.
- Familiarity with dental clinic terminology and procedures.
