Description
Position Summary:
Faculty members are responsible for the delivery of quality education services. This entails engaging students, fostering learning, role modeling professionalism, and ultimately producing competently trained students prepared for professional careers. Faculty work with the Associate Director of Nursing, the Director of Nursing, and other campus faculty and staff to ensure consistent and high‑quality delivery of assigned courses.
- Become ATI Champion within 90 days of hire.
- Prepare course plans and materials.
- Deliver lectures, facilitate labs, and/or conduct clinical rotations.
- Monitor equipment and supply needs and maintain the classroom.
- Secure an approved substitute in case of absence.
- Enforce HCI policies (attendance, dress code, clinical policies, etc.).
- Participate in orientation, graduation, and pinning ceremonies (full‑time required; part‑time requested).
- Support retention plans and program development.
- Attend staff and faculty meetings (full‑time required; part‑time requested).
- Participate in committees and knowledge‑sharing forums (full‑time required; part‑time requested).
- Direct and assess student progress toward program requirements.
- Monitor student progress and follow up as needed.
- Provide weekly feedback reports to the ADON, DON, SVPAA, and COO.
- Maintain required licensures, certifications, and personnel paperwork.
- Complete at least eight (8) CEUs annually through professional development and related activities.
- Encourage course evaluations and use feedback to improve delivery.
- Ensure regular and reliable attendance.
- Participate in ACEN and other accreditation activities.
- Comply with all governmental regulations and accreditation standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Minimum of a master’s or doctoral degree in Nursing; 50% or more of faculty must hold a master’s or doctoral degree (FBON).
- Excellent written and oral communication and analytical skills.
- Strong teaching skills and proficiency managing clinical and skills‑lab activities.
- Computer literacy, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook).
- Ability to manage people and projects.
- Knowledgeable in course content and educational theory.
- Effective in directing and evaluating student learning and lab performance.
- Prepared in educational theory and techniques.
- Willingness to follow high ethical standards.
- Earned Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN or equivalent) – Required.
- Master’s degree in Nursing (MSN or equivalent) – Preferred.
- Current, active, Florida RN or APRN license – Required.
- Current, active Basic Life Support certification – Required.
- Minimum of four (4) years of related practical work experience in the subject area(s) taught.
- Workload depends on faculty classification.
- Faculty must start and end on time for assigned courses, clinicals, and labs.
- Overtime requires prior approval from the ADON/DON.
- Teaching includes didactic, clinical/offsite or onsite patient care, and lab/simulation experiences.
- Full‑time faculty must: teach at least 30 hours per week, attend meetings, participate in accreditation, serve on committees, and perform other assigned duties.
Professional office setting and higher‑education teaching environment. Activities include communicating with coworkers, presenting to students, demonstrating procedures, and moving between locations. Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
