Job Description

Broward College in sunny South Florida invites applications for a full‑time contract‑eligible teaching position in English. The role is a yearly two‑semester (163‑day) contract beginning in August 2025. The successful candidate will share the college’s commitment to educating its students and advancing the institution’s mission of academic excellence.

Responsibilities
  • Demonstrate mastery of your discipline, a deep commitment to the college mission, technological competence, and the ability to engage students to facilitate learning and prepare them for productive lives.
  • Employ teaching methods that accommodate various levels of academic preparation and incorporate appropriate and engaging technology across different modalities of instruction.
  • Facilitate the needs of diverse learners by implementing responsive pedagogical techniques and effective practices for engaging students.
  • Engage in student consultation, course preparation, review of course outlines, and preparation of course syllabi.
  • Provide prompt and constructive support to students through regular office hours, timely feedback on assessments, activities, and prompt email responses.
  • Adhere to all reporting deadlines such as grade processing, enrollment verification, syllabus submission, and textbook adoption.
  • Participate in service to the college and its community, including curriculum development, assessment of student learning outcomes, shared academic decision‑making, faculty organizations, and departmental program reviews.
  • Engage in continued professional development, such as attending educational and disciplinary conferences.
Minimum Qualifications & Experience
  • Master’s Degree in Composition/Rhetoric, Creative Writing, English, Language Arts/English Education, Linguistics, or Literature; or a Master’s Degree with 18 graduate semester hours in those fields; or a Ph.D. (preferred).
  • High level of digital literacy and a commitment to teaching.
Salary

$47,000 - $78,644 (Salary commensurate with education, experience, and course load)
