Primary Purpose
Instructors are responsible for designing, educating, and instructing a group of participants of all fitness levels in a variety of group exercise formats. Temporary employment is of limited duration, and under the terms of NSU's benefits plan and policies, not eligible for company benefits.

Essential Job Functions
- Instructors must possess current knowledge, certifications, and necessary specialized skills to provide a safe and effective group fitness class.
- Enjoys motivating and communicating with participants.
- Availability and flexibility to sub classes as needed.
- Arrives early to each class in order to properly prep, set-up and greet participants.
- Meets participants before and after class to answer questions.
- Records attendance numbers for each class.
- Reports and logs equipment in need of repair.
- Attends mandatory meetings every semester.
Job Requirements
Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: 1. Provides a fun and safe workout through one or more specialty group exercise classes.
- Educates participants concerning safe exercise techniques with ability to provide immediate modifications.
- Acquaints new participants with class procedures.
- Monitors proper form and technique using positive reinforcement.
- Promotes classes and assist in promotions and events.
- Obtains substitutes as needed.
- Maintains a desire for continuing technical improvement and continuing education.
- Excellent communication and motivational skills.
- Ability to recognize potentially harmful situations that may lead to injuries and take appropriate actions.
- Current CPR certification.

Pre-Employment Conditions
- One (1) or more years' of experience instructing group exercise.
- Fitness, exercise science, or health related degree
- Previous experience in a University setting.
- Ability to teach multiple group exercise formats.
