The purpose of this position is to provide guidance to Middle School students seeking assistance with school, personal, social, and family problems that affect spiritual growth, classroom behavior and academic progress. Services provided include individual counseling, small group counseling, and crisis intervention. The specific focus of this role is to help students develop academically, emotionally, socially and spiritually in a manner that will enable them to be good disciples and stewards of the abilities and strengths God has givenർഷ.
ScopeThis person interacts directly with Middle School students, and with parents, staff, and administrators on behalf of students. This person assists students in various stages of development, learning, and academic planning. Youth discipleship and the handling of confidential student concerns are a critical part of this position. The counselor will be proactive as a liaison between parents, faculty, and administration in support of students assigned to them.
Responsibilities- Provide educational/personal/social/spiritual counseling.
- Proactive counseling to include assistance in the following areas: reviewing academic progress, identifying learning deficits, family issues, peer relationships, college planning, and career interests.
- Accept referrals from Administration as requested.
- Refer students with consistent academic issues to ESE Director as needed.
- Occasional referrals to CCFL ministries and community agencies to provide services to students and their families.
- Provide consultation with teachers, administrators, and parents on behalf of assigned students as appropriate.
- Provide crisis intervention services as needed.
- Orient new students to provide a comfortable and successful introduction to CCA.
- Assist with educational testing and student scheduling.
- Academic Probation Coordinator.
- Event coordination supportrawtypes:
Impact, NJHS, Duke Tip, Math League, MS Academic Awards, 5th Grade Parent Meeting, Spelling the Tea, etc. - Assist specifically with: MS Standardized Testing, and all MS events.
- Complete Teaching responsibilities as outlined in MS Teacher JD.
- Collaborate with the full‑time MS School Counselor to assist with counselor duties where needed.
- Attend weekly MS team meetings.
- Attend MS faculty and staff meetings.
- Attend Calvary Chapel Fort Lauderdale quarterly Huddle staff meetings.
- Must be able to lift 40 lbs.
- Strong commitment to Jesus Christ and His Word.
- Strong commitment to the mission of Calvary Chapel as well as the educational philosophyamiseen Calvary Christian Academy.

- Meets SACS requirements for School Counselor.
Full time (40 hours/week) – however, the incumbent may be required to work an evening or weekend day to attend a CCA event, assist with a special project, or assist in an emergency situation affecting the church facilities.
This is a 10‑month position and follows the teachers’ work calendar, with the exception of the summer schedule;.Decimal possible additional hours may be available as needed with the MS principal’s approval.
Summer Work ScheduleWorks 1 week after teachers’ last day of school. Returns to full‑time work 2 week earlier than returning teachers.
