Director of Guidance and College Advising

Cardinal Gibbons High School in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, is seeking a dynamic and mission-driven 10- month, full-time Director of Guidance & College Advising for the upcoming 2026-27 academic year. commissioned to promote and support Catholic education and the mission of Cardinal Gibbons High School. This position provides leadership and oversight of the school counseling program, ensuring compliance with Archdiocese of Miami policies and procedures.

The Director supports the academic, social, emotional, and spiritual development of students, oversees college and career planning initiatives and standardized testing implementation, supervises counseling staff, and collaborates with administration, faculty, and families to create a student-centered, faith-filled educational environment.

• Serve a comprehensive high school counseling program supporting grades 9–12.
• Coordinate with external mental health providers, agencies, and community resources as needed.
• Authorized to make department-level decisions related to programming, workflows, and student support systems in consultation with administration.
• Use data to evaluate program effectiveness and inform strategic improvements.
• Ensure compliance with state and Archdiocesan reporting requirements related to student safety and wellness.

• Bachelor’s Degree in - Business, Education, or related field, preferred.
• Master’s Degree in School Counseling, Guidance Counseling, or Mental Health.
• Florida Department of Education certification or licensure in School Counseling (or eligibility) preferred.
• 3 years or more of supervisory or leadership experience required.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with administrators, counselors, faculty, students, and families.
• Understanding and knowledge in oversight of exceptional student education programming.
• Understanding and knowledge of oversight of all standardized testing and analysis (i.e. HSPT, PSAT, Pre-ACT, ACT).
• The ideal candidate is a proactive, visible leader who is calm under pressure, highly organized, and confident navigating complex student and family situations with professionalism, compassion, and clarity.
• Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and ethical standards.
• Strong organizational, time management, and multitasking skills in an environment of competing deadlines.
• Ability to manage competing deadlines with accuracy and care.
• Excellent customer service and professional demeanor.
• Occasional evening or weekend hours required for school events, meetings, and parent programming.
• Software Skills in Microsoft (Word, Excel & PowerPoint), Google Workspace preferred, and experience with Naviance, Rediker, Canvas, or similar student information systems preferred Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Must be a practicing Catholic in good standing; supportive of the mission and tenets of the Roman Catholic School.
• Must have a professional demeanor.
