Structural Project Manager, Cold-Formed Steel (CFS)

Join GPLA Structural Engineers and Builders as a Structural Project Manager focused on cold‑formed steel (CFS). This role oversees projects from conceptual design through construction completion, coordinating all aspects of the structural design process, ensuring compliance with scope, budget, and schedule.

• Mentor and manage Structural Designers I & II, Structural Design Engineers, and Structural Project Engineers.
• Manage production of drawings, specifications, and calculations from conceptual design to construction documents.
• Review deliverables to ensure scope and quality standards throughout the project lifecycle.
• Develop project plans with scope, deliverables, timelines, and resources.
• Conduct construction administration tasks: review shop drawings, respond to RFIs, perform site visits.
• Oversee structural design and analytical models, focusing on CFS.
• Perform calculations and analyses for structural integrity and code compliance.
• Utilize CAD software (Tekla Structures, etc.) to create 2D drawings and 3D models.
• Manage team members, assign tasks, monitor progress, and ensure collaboration.
• Collaborate with external stakeholders (architects, contractors, MEP designers).
• Manage project design meetings, set agendas, take minutes.
• Stay updated with industry trends, code updates, and new technologies.
• Identify process improvements, cost optimization opportunities.
• Monitor project costs, track expenses, manage budget, and prepare monthly status reports.
• Handle invoicing, pursue payments, and manage change orders.
• Provide mentorship and professional development to team members.

• In‑depth knowledge of structural engineering principles, codes, and standards.
• Familiarity with structural design and analysis for materials and construction techniques.
• Subject‑matter expertise in CFS framing.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and troubleshooting skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication; ability to convey complex technical information.
• Organizational skills; ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects.
• Detail orientation for accurate design plans and documentation.

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering with a structural focus (minimum).
• Master’s degree in Structural Engineering preferred.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license (required). Structural Engineer (SE) license preferred.
• Eight years of experience in building structural engineering, with at least five years in CFS design.

• Ability to sit or stand at a desk and work from a computer for prolonged periods.
• Ability to travel for site visits across the country.
• Ability to lift a minimum of 15 pounds when necessary.
