Overview
We are seeking a Geotechnical Lab Manager for a reservoir project near Ft. Lauderdale, FL. This is a landmark project – one of the largest in Florida, if not the entire nation – offering a career-defining opportunity to work on a high-profile Earth Dam project for the Army Corps of Engineers. The project is approximately 45 minutes from West Palm Beach and 35 minutes from Ft.
Lauderdale.
- Manage and maintain the laboratory facility to ensure a safe, productive environment.
- Maintain and ensure all laboratory equipment is calibrated.
- Maintain satisfactory Lab Qualifications and audits through FDOT.
- Manage internal documentation and procedures and perform during the accreditation and certification process.
- Ensure that testing results are reported within specification-dictated timelines and communicated internally throughout the testing process.
- Plan, recruit, and provide recommendations for laboratory staff.
- Coordinate and facilitate proper training for lab and field personnel.
- Directly supervise and perform laboratory activities and testing procedures.
- Ensure that laboratory processes and personnel adhere to the requirements of the MC2 Quality Management Program and guidelines set forth by AASHTO and ASTM.
- Work with the Department Managers to ensure proper lab resources are in place to meet project needs.
- Heavy lifting may be part of the day-to-day job (50 lb).
- Assist in updating SOP (standard operating procedures) and QMS (quality management systems).
- Assist in Radiation Safety Officer (RSO) duties.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field (preferred).
- 15+ years’ experience performing laboratory tests on construction and geotechnical materials working on FDOT projects is preferred; 5+ years experience required.
- Experienced in testing soils, masonry, concrete, and asphalt.
- Ability to communicate and interact respectfully and professionally with verbal and written communication.
- FDOT MAC System experience (preferred).
- ACI Lab Certifications
