Highway Area Discipline Leader – RS&H
RS&H is currently seeking a Highway Area Discipline Lead for our Transportation Practice in Miami or Fort Lauderdale, FL office. This role offers an opportunity to lead transformative highway projects and drive the growth of a dynamic team.
Job SummaryAs the South Florida Highway Area Discipline Leader (ADL), you will take charge of RS&H’s South Florida Highway practice, steering both top‑line growth and operational excellence. You’ll lead a talented team of professionals, fostering a culture of engagement, empowerment, and continuous improvement. You will provide leadership and oversight to a team with a shared focus on ensuring client satisfaction and quality outcomes.
Responsibilities- Strategic Leadership – steer RS&H’s South Florida Highway practice and foster a culture of engagement and continuous improvement.
- Business Development – cultivate client relationships, lead brand recognition, and pursue major FDOT and county projects.
- Project Delivery – oversee large‑scale conventional and design‑build projects, ensuring quality, efficiency, and client satisfaction across arterials, interstates, and interchanges.
- Operational Excellence – manage profitability, operational efficiency, resource management, and quality deliverables.
- Innovation & Influence – champion new technologies, tools, and training to set the discipline’s direction.
- People Management – support the delivery of large, complex projects and nurture strong client relationships.
- Collaboration – inspire highway staff, coordinate with other highway leaders, and foster a thriving environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET‑accredited university.
- Florida PE registration and at least 15 years of progressive roadway/highway engineering experience.
- Proven leadership in managing multi‑discipline teams and complex projects for FDOT and county clients.
- Success in leading and winning major FDOT District Four and/or District Six project pursuits.
- Expertise in Micro Station and Open Roads Designer (ORD) with a track record of overseeing high‑quality deliverables.
- Strong business acumen, project management skills, and the ability to build lasting client partnerships.
- Experience as Engineer of Record for a variety of highway projects (e.g., limited access highways, tolled expressways, urban arterial reconstruction, and Milling & Resurfacing).
- Ability to estimate construction costs and provide post‑design services during project construction.
- Valid U.S. driver’s license and willingness to travel as needed.
- Master’s degree in a relevant field.
- Experience with both conventional and alternative delivery projects (Design‑Bid‑Build, Adjust Score Design‑Build, Phased Design‑Build).
- Background as a Project Manager or subject matter expert within Owner’s Representative Contracts for major corridors.
- Expertise in complex interchange and alternative intersection design.
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods, occasionally stoop, and lift/move up to 25 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities.
