Overview

Assistant Land Surveyor - Ft. Lauderdale, FL. Bowman Consulting is hiring an Assistant Land Surveyor to join the team in Ft. Lauderdale, FL.

• Perform routine and/or less complex survey work and assist with more complex land surveys including boundary surveys, horizontal and vertical control surveys, photogrammetric surveys, and construction staking.
• Operate and maintain surveying equipment, instruments, and software, including robotic total stations, GPS, data collection devices, and point processing software.
• Assist in the post-processing of data collected for boundary, topographic, and construction surveys.
• Assist in the review, preparation and/or determination of parcel and subdivision maps, lot line adjustment plats, corner records, record of survey maps, traverse reports, and right-of-way.
• Interpret and establish compliance with state and local regulations.
• Assist survey crew and provide information in compliance with department rules, regulations, and guidelines.
• Perform various field land surveying activities such as monument reconnaissance, monument preservation, monument resets, construction staking, and topographic surveying.
• Draft and map surveying documents using Autodesk Civil 3D software; solve routine surveying problems using COGO, Civil 3D, and handheld software.
• Assist and support higher level staff to organize, prioritize, and prepare a variety of complex surveying documents.
• Prepare maps and plans from survey data and assist in the preparation of legal descriptions and technical correspondence.
• Read and interpret legal descriptions and assist in preparing corrections for maps, plans, and legal descriptions.
• Provide survey information to clients regarding projects on an as-needed basis and perform research for land surveying deliverables.
• Maintain survey records, notes, maps, and other pertinent documents; organize work and set priorities to ensure coordination and completion of assigned survey work.

• Associate or bachelor's degree in land surveying or related field.
• Three or more years of relevant industry experience or demonstrated exemplary success and leadership in surveying during college.
• Professional Land Surveyor-in-Training certificate preferred or ability to obtain within first year of employment.
• Knowledge of land surveying theory, regulations, and current technology; proficiency with AutoCAD and Civil 3D; and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Must hold a valid state driver’s license and pass motor vehicle check.
