The Wärtsilä Energy Business – North Region team has a vacancy for a Service Engineer, Engine Controls
.
- Solve technical and operational problems at our customer’s engine power plants.
- Support preventative maintenance activities according to maintenance programs.
- Support New Build and Commissioning teams on project delivery.
- Manage and maintain good relationships with the customer during work execution.
- Participate in customer meetings as local support for electrical and automation scope.
- Create service work reports and other relevant documentation related to site or customer visits.
- Be able to travel to our customer facilities for service attendance within Canada, US and the Caribbean.
- Be on service jobs about 80% of the year.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Controls & Automation, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent diploma.
The candidate should have a minimum of three (3) years’ work experience with:
- PLC programming and troubleshooting:
Rockwell, Siemens, Schneider etc. - Understanding of PLC function blocks and ladder diagrams.
- Wonderware or other applicable HMI platforms.
- Proficient on standard industrial network protocols (Modbus TCP, Profibus, CAN‑bus, CIP, Ether Net/IP, Device
NET, Control
NET, Industrial Ethernet etc.). - Programming of firewalls and routers.
- Woodward control systems for diesel and gas engines.
- Reciprocating Gas Engine Control Systems (Wärtsilä, MAN, MaK, Caterpillar, Bergen etc).
- Excellent leadership and collaboration skills.
- Good electrical knowledge.
- Excellent English communication skills (verbal and written).
- Strong focus on safety protocols and QEHS standards.
- Must be able to work independently.
- Project management skills.
This position requires an 80% travel commitment, encompassing both domestic and international, including onshore and offshore locations. Prospective candidates should be prepared to fulfill these travel obligations.
