About the RoleA growing multi-entity organization is hiring a Director of Financial Reporting to lead financial reporting, technical accounting, and compliance activities in a government-funded environment. Candidates should bring extensive experience with GASB, governmental reporting standards, and multi-entity financial oversight.
Responsibilities- Lead preparation and review of financial statements in accordance with GASB and other governmental reporting requirements.
- Oversee month-end and year-end close processes for multiple entities, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and proper documentation.
- Manage technical accounting activities, including reconciliations, journal entries, and internal financial reports.
- Coordinate audit activity, including Single Audit requirements, schedules, and supporting documentation.
- Ensure strong internal controls, financial policies, and compliance procedures across the organization.
- Partner with operational leaders to support budgeting, forecasting, and spend monitoring for publicly funded programs.
- Provide technical guidance across accounting functions, including GL, AP/AR, grants accounting, and fixed assets.
- Identify and drive improvements in reporting processes, systems, and financial controls.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA strongly preferred.
- 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including governmental, public‑sector, charter school, or nonprofit grant accounting.
- Strong knowledge of GASB, governmental reporting requirements, and compliance frameworks.
- Experience working in a multi‑entity or complex organizational structure.
- Audit background (public accounting) highly preferred, especially with government or Single Audit exposure.
- Advanced Excel skills and proficiency with modern financial systems.
- Strong analytical skills, accuracy, and attention to detail.
- Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to non‑financial stakeholders.
