Job Title:
Execution Trader – Fixed Income & Equities
About the Firm
A Fort Lauderdale–based investment firm operates a lean, fundamentals-driven investment platform focused on debt and equity markets. The firm employs a highly collaborative, research- intensive approach and maintains a small investment team that works closely across trading, research, and portfolio management functions. The firm emphasizes disciplined execution, deep engagement with market participants, and hands-on exposure for junior professionals. The culture values intellectual curiosity, attention to detail, accountability, and a strong work ethic within a fast-paced hedge fund environment.
Role Overview
The firm is seeking a highly motivated Execution Trader – Fixed Income & Equities to support portfolio management and research efforts across debt and equity markets. This role is ideal for candidates 1–3 years out of college, currently working at a large or boutique investment bank, preferably in a trading or sales & trading capacity, with a strong interest in fixed income markets.
The Execution Trader should expect to function as the most junior member of the investment team, and therefore will also be responsible for a range of essential supporting tasks—such as obtaining and tracking monthly price marks, maintaining execution and communication logs, coordinating logistics, and handling other low-level but critical work required to keep the investment team operating efficiently, including any and all additional tasks requested by the founders or research analysts.
This is a newly created role designed as a structured three-year program offering unusually broad exposure to trading, research, and buy-side decision-making.
Candidates should demonstrate strong quantitative ability, meticulous attention to detail, and a willingness to take ownership of both analytical and operational responsibilities in a lean environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute instructed buy and sell orders across debt and equity securities
- Communicate daily with sell-side trading desks via Bloomberg chat and phone calls to source liquidity and market color
- Assist with coordinating investment-related meetings and calls
- Review, organize, and distribute relevant sell-side research materials
- Partner with internal research analysts to support investment workflows
- Obtain, track, and reconcile monthly price marks
- Maintain detailed execution, communication, and trade logs
- Provide logistical and operational support to ensure efficient day-to-day functioning of the investment team
- Perform ad hoc tasks (which may be low-level) as requested by investment professionals
This role is structured as a three-year developmental program intended to provide meaningful exposure to:
- Trade execution and market structure
- Buy-side research and investment decision-making
- Direct interaction with senior investors and external counter parties
At the conclusion of the program, senior leadership will provide strong references and reasonable flexibility to support the candidate’s transition to their next step (e.g., MBA, another buy-side role, or a sell-side opportunity). If there is an exceptional mutual fit, the role may evolve into a long-term position.
Equal Opportunity Employer
The firm is an Equal Opportunity Employer. Employment decisions are made without regard to race, religion, color, national origin, gender (including pregnancy, childbirth, or related medical conditions), sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, age, status as a protected veteran, status as an individual with a disability, or other applicable legally protected characteristics.
