This role is a professional position requiring the supervision of a unit assigned to the Office of Economically Self‑Sufficiency, administering eligibility for public assistance benefits. The incumbent will spend the majority of time communicating with, motivating, training, and evaluating employees, planning and directing employee work assignments, and recommending personnel actions. Detailed knowledge of eligibility processes, procedures, and applicable computer systems is required to determine public assistance eligibility, monitor, and measure performance.

Responsibilities- Supervise public assistance eligibility staff and ensure all unit responsibilities are processed accurately, timely, and in accordance with rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Develop and use tracking systems to monitor case status and ensure staff complete assignments to deliver customer service and meet required performance indicators.
- Plan and prioritize the unit’s workload, workflow, deadlines, and objectives to meet process measurements and performance targets.
- Review and analyze case records in accordance with the Quality Management System Plan and operating procedures, and discuss case reviews with staff to facilitate learning and development.
- Ensure all cases are corrected accurately and on time; develop performance and planning initiatives and corrective action plans as needed.
- Resolve issues from internal and external customers, evaluate performance data, and complete associated reports.
- Participate in the planning and presentation of performance reviews and operational planning.
- Provide training to employees in an effective and efficient manner, interpret and coordinate the implementation of policy, procedures, and directives.
- Communicate with employees to discuss accomplishments and improvement areas; complete monthly documented performance conferences and performance appraisals per Department policies.
- Maintain and develop professional knowledge and skills through supervisory performance conferences, staff meetings, mandatory training, and workshops.
- Perform special work assignments and related duties as required.
- Ensure effective communication with deaf and hard‑of‑hearing community in accordance with ADA and Section 504, manage service records and reports.
- Two (2) or more years’ experience determining eligibility for food stamps, Medicaid, and cash assistance.
- State of Florida Employment applications must reflect most current position and all previous employment history to receive full consideration.
- Some Agency positions may require successful completion of pre‑interview assessment or work sample prior to interview.
- Ability to speak/read/write Spanish, Creole, French, or other foreign language may be considered.
