Job Summary
The Financial Systems Senior Manager (FS Senior Manager) leads a team that delivers business support, reporting, and analytic solutions for effective use of financial systems and business process integrations. The role manages long‑range system planning, project completions, and knowledge transfer to team members and enterprise‑wide stakeholders, while driving system efficiency, automation, and data integrity.
Key Responsibilities- Participates in evaluating software and hardware products for potential purchase and implementation.
- Determines resource needs, provides software recommendations, and collaborates with end users.
- Manages projects: directs cross‑functional teams, tracks tasks, reports progress, and ensures scope and deadlines.
- Ensures documentation meets project deliverables and schedules.
- Manages project budgets, including internal and third‑party costs.
- Supervises, coaches, and mentors FS Manager or Analyst staff and resolves third‑party support issues.
- Leads functional requirements gathering, translating business needs into technical specifications.
- Defines objectives, assesses risks, and formulates scope of business systems.
- Presents recommendations to senior management and prepares presentations for new technology initiatives.
- Provides leadership for functional setup, upgrades, and new application implementation.
- Ensures effective communication between business acumen and technical requirements.
- Leads resolution of complex transactional issues, performing root‑cause analysis and using data integrity reports.
- Manages deployment of finance systems across the firm and promotes unified system use.
- Coordinates disaster recovery, reporting, and dashboard problem resolution.
- Translates financial system jargon into business‑friendly language for owners, management, and executives.
- Identifies and prioritizes system gaps, aligning with industry best practices.
- Documents and shares system insights with cross‑functional teams and managers.
- Installs new finance systems, features, or analytics mechanisms and integrates with legacy systems.
- Coordinates training for audit controls on system projects, operations, documentation, and updates.
- Proposes strategies to grow utilization of financial systems across locations.
- Manages configuration, enhancements, security, reporting, training, documentation, testing, and user support.
- Provides cross‑functional leadership on non‑PMO projects, including planning, estimation, resource allocation.
- Investigates irregularities, develops resolution, and communicates corrective action.
- Evaluates new vendor functionalities as they become available.
- Participates in annual/quarterly financial systems planning and prioritization.
- Manages SLA for software licenses, maintenance, and vendor services.
- Works with vendors on contract renewals and statement of work creation.
- Mentors the team on data integrity, confidentiality, and security access.
- Engages senior management or Internal Audit to clarify security requests.
- Participates on Vendor/Customer Advisory Boards as needed.
- Assists in creating the annual financial system budget and project staffing plans.
- Other duties as required.
- Monitors performance and provides feedback to FS Analyst professionals.
- Ensures effective training on systems and processes.
- Conducts annual performance reviews.
- Assists in workload prioritization and delegation.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Technology or related field (required) or equivalent work experience.
- Master’s degree (preferred).
- Ten (10) or more years of experience with financial systems (required with degree); fifteen (15) or more years without a degree.
- Five (5) or more years of supervisory experience (required).
- Experience in professional services firms such as accounting, financial services, advisory, or banking (preferred).
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Knowledge of People Soft Financials (query and reporting).
