Pay and Benefits
  • Base pay range: $87,341.79/yr – $/yr.
  • High Deductible Health Plan – bi‑weekly premiums:

Role Overview

The position is responsible for maintaining the design and integrity of mission‑critical servers and client applications used to support the operation of Broward County’s Public Safety E911 Answering Points (PSAP) and Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system with 99.999% reliability and uptime. The specialist provides onsite, remote, and on‑call support to public safety end users, planning, testing, implementation, and system maintenance for CAD and related applications (AVL, ProQA Paramount, Mobile Data, Law Records, Fire Records, etc.).

The role also involves strategic planning for long‑range, multi‑agency, multi‑disciplinary, multi‑jurisdictional CAD and related technology integration.

Responsibilities
  • Provide 24/7 on‑call support and troubleshooting for CAD and related applications.
  • Plan and execute acceptance testing, version upgrades, system configuration, and maintenance.
  • Coordinate with County, Sheriff, Municipal Police, and Municipal Fire Departments.
  • Develop and implement long‑term technology strategies and integration with state‑wide interoperable systems.
  • Document deployments, security, quality assurance, change controls, and compliance.
  • Lead vendor communications and beta testing of application bugs.
  • Provide continuous system monitoring, security audits, and health checks.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a closely related field (equivalent education may be substituted with one year of experience per year of required education).
  • Four (4) years of experience in systems analysis, systems design, and/or applications programming relevant to the assignment, including project management.
  • Two (2) years of experience supporting Public Safety Emergency Services or 911 operations.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with research, data analysis, and feasibility studies for technical management reports.
  • Experience with client laptop and desktop hardware support and administration.
  • Database administration experience.
  • Leading continuous improvement programs related to public safety applications.
  • Virtualization administration certifications (Citrix, VMWare, Hyper

    V, or related).
  • Project Management Certifications (PMP, PgMP, etc.).
  • Six Sigma Certifications (Green Belt, Black Belt, Master Black Belt).
  • Network Administration Certifications (CCNA, CCIE, CISSP, etc.).
  • Database Administration Certifications (SQL, Oracle, etc.).
  • Presentation or training skills in mission‑critical public safety services.
  • Software or application programming skills.
  • Technical writing or documentation skills.
  • Master’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Business Administration, Computer Science, MIS, or closely related field.
Special Certifications and Licences
  • FCIC/NCIC certification (or eligibility to obtain).
  • Florida Class E Driver’s License (and maintenance).
