Insurance Defense Attorney

• Billable hours minimum expectation of 1,800, hybrid/flexible WFH schedule.
• $145k - $165k+ commesurate with experience and annual billables bonus of up to $50k in bonuses + fully comprehensive benefits, healthcare coverage, PTO.

• Our client is an AmLaw-caliber and nationally renowned law firm founded in the early 1930's, positioning them as one of New York City's oldest and most respected law firms with a national presence as a premier legal defense firm handling complex civil litigation matters as well as commercial litigation.
• The firm has open positions for the following opportunity at their offices based in Manhattan, NY.
• The practice centers on insurance, reinsurance, and various other matters spanning across transactional & regulatory compliance servicing sophisticated and bespoke institutional clients.

• Handle complex insurance coverage litigation, including commercial first‑party insurance, reinsurance, third‑party liability, professional liability, and bad faith coverage disputes.
• Take ownership of motion practice, coverage opinions, discovery, and client communications as part of a collaborative team in a nationally prominent practice.

• JD from an accredited law school and above-average academic credentials.
• Admission to practice law within the state of New York.
• At least 3 years of experience in the private practice of law.
• Working experience providing legal defense in complex and high‑stakes insurance claims and related matters.

• Admission to multiple U.S. jurisdictions (i.e. NY & NJ).
• Litigation experience handling insurance coverage matters, with substantial experience in all phases of litigation from pre‑litigation management through motion practice and settlement or trial phase.
• Superb legal writing skill and forensic legal analysis and research proficiency.
