Role PurposeReporting to the VP Curaçao, the General Manager is responsible for the business interests, financial performance, and operations of Curaçao Airport.
ScaleThe customer base consists of multiple narrow‑body and wide‑body airlines, with a wide variety and complexity of operations. Principal services provided will be ground handling.
Main Accountabilities- Implement Menzies Aviation Policies and Procedures as laid down in the Five Star Audit of Management.
- Formulate Local Operating Procedures where the Menzies Manuals do not apply.
- Ensure that Local Operating Procedures are defined in the LOPM and the SQM and are carried out.
- Ensure service delivery to customer airlines in accordance with airline contracts and within the agreed budget.
- Ensure safety and security procedures comply with the Menzies Health & Safety Policy Manual and international aviation standards.
- Monitor performance and take action to correct any shortfalls.
- Liaise with airline station managers, airport operations management, handling agents, customs, immigration, security officials, union officials, and other airport stakeholders.
- Provide reports as required and service delivery measurements.
- Provide leadership to the management team and develop their skills.
- Negotiate contracts with airlines and staff agreements with officials.
- Work shifts as required by the business.
- Develop, implement and maintain the station quality control system.
- With the VP, Safety, Security and Training, develop and implement the station Emergency Response Plan.
- Report any significant deficiency in our products, materials and documents.
- Suggest improvements to working practices, especially those relating to safety and security.
- Substantial general management experience.
- Extensive experience and knowledge of aviation services, ideally including ramp, freight, and passenger handling.
- Financially and commercially astute with extensive experience and strong grasp of financial practices including P&L responsibility.
- Excellent leadership and people management skills.
- Strong communication skills and experience liaising with senior airline, airport, and other stakeholder personnel.
- Fully conversant with international airline ramp handling procedures, international aviation safety and security procedures.
- Able to work with a multi‑national workforce and adjust to the local conditions of the station.
- Good knowledge of ramp GSE.
- Good working knowledge of the IATA Standard Ground Handling Agreement.
- Aptitude to develop the management team, provide succession planning, and re‑engineer business processes as demanded by changes in the business.
- All applicants must possess a U.S. passport or U.S. Resident Card. Netherlands passport, Curaçao residency or employment authorization are preferred.
In‑depth understanding of concepts and procedures within one's subject area and basic knowledge of these elements in other areas.
