Job Profile SummaryUnder limited supervision, this position is responsible for gathering, extracting, compiling, and analyzing data to create comprehensive reports that will be used to support decision making. The role will conduct analysis using data from internal and external sources, prepare reports and research briefs, present findings through oral presentations at meetings and conferences, assist in data validation, build and maintain data dictionaries and glossaries, and document data‑related processes.
Performs related duties as assigned.
- Associate’s degree. Bachelor’s degree in an analytical field, such as computer science, mathematics, statistics, economics, engineering, or social sciences strongly preferred.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Four years of experience in data extraction and validation, statistical analysis, reporting writing, and making presentations in a related field, preferably in a higher education setting.
- Experience with statistical software (SPSS, SAS, STATA, etc.) and database software (SAS, Access, SQL, Paradox, dBase, etc.).
- Develop and maintain certification and reconciliation procedures for managing the accuracy of data required for local, state, and federal reporting (~15%).
- Import retrieved data into various computer‑based tools such as databases and spreadsheets, perform advanced analysis, identify trends, verify data validity, and recommend procedural changes (~10%).
- Participate/attend meetings and conferences with vendors and other colleges to assist in establishing technical procedures required to apply functional changes to the state reporting system (~10% other, as needed).
- Perform data analysis, verification, and import retrieved data into various tools (~10%).
- Perform longitudinal studies and demographic/geographic data analysis, gather and synthesize information and data applicable to the study (~10%).
- Create procedures to automate routine periodic functions to import, export and analyze data (~10%).
- Collaborate with various departments to translate business requirements into data objects and develop prototypes for end‑user evaluation (~10%).
- Prepare reports, documentation, and related materials outlining research results; evaluate, organize, verify and extrapolate data (~10%).
- Design and develop electronic workflow processes to facilitate the delivery of information (~5% other, as needed).
- Identify and document information access needs in conjunction with data owners to stay compliant with privacy and security regulations (~5%).
- Perform related duties as assigned (~5% other, as needed).
- Ability to work with limited supervision in research design, implementation, analysis, and dissemination of research related to higher education.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office packages and experience with database technologies.
- Proficient in the use of statistical analysis software such as SAS, SPSS, and other BI tools such as Enterprise Miner.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of statistics and research methodology.
- Ability to conduct data needs assessment and gather specifications.
- Must be detail oriented, organized, resourceful and maintain efficient work habits.
- Ability to complete projects with rapidly changing priorities.
- Ability to interact and effectively communicate research methodology and findings to a diverse constituency.
- Excellent presentation skills.
- Experience with both quantitative and qualitative data analysis.
